Robotics and the Medical Field
Robotics have already played an important role in society and it is continuing to play an even greater role these days because of the advancements and improvements already made with regards to science and technology, allowing the betterment of the robotics industry. Robotics has not only played an important role in production, information systems, space technology and other fields relating to it but it has also been started to be introduced to the field of medicine and to tell you quite frankly, it is making its mark as its role and impact has been greatly felt, especially for those people who have been permanently injured because of accidents.
With the impressive advancements made in the line of robotics, it has also reached the field of medicine. Technology which was originally founded by the US military to help aiding their wounded soldiers with lost limbs could have the opportunity to help victims with spinal injuries too. It was then further developed by the Neruophotonics Research Center. Through the research, they would be able to make a two way fibre optic link which would connect the nerve endings and the prosthetic limbs which could then also be used to patch up injuries which relates to the spinal cord.
This kind of technology through robotics would be able to give the people who have been amputated the opportunity to get the full functionality of their bodies again. This would allow them to have the chance to be able to feel again through the links that the fibre optic would create causing the artificial limb to be able to interact with the brain so that the person who has the artificial limb could allow it to move again. The people who are behind this research are also very hopeful for the possiblity that this same technology could be used in order to fix spinal cord injuries to give patients the restore the movement of their body parts which have already been paralyzed. However, this kind of technology requires a great deal of research and more improvements especially relating to the field of robotics.
We have already come a long way when it comes to introducing robotics to different fields in society, however, we still have a lot of researching and learning to do and much more studies to conduct in order to understand this concept better.
